Findlay, Ohio- The University of Findlay volleyball team won their seventh straight game today as they swept the Ashland Eagles 3-0 (25-7, 25-21, 25-19) in dominating fashion. With the win, the 23rd ranked Oilers, improve to 9-1 on the year and remain a perfect 3-0 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play. Meanwhile, the Eagles, who were chosen to finish first in the G-MAC East Division, fell to 9-3 on the season with a 4-1 mark in the league.
The Oilers never trailed in the opening set, fueled by a .455 hitting percentage. Findlay limited Ashland to just five kills and seven points, holding the Eagles to a -.074 hitting percentage, ultimately taking a dominant 25-7 win.
Building on that strong start, the Oilers maintained control in the second set, winning 25-21. Ashland pushed for a third-set comeback, but Findlay closed out the set decisively, taking eight of the final nine points.
Findlay hit .275 in the match, recording 36 kills with eleven errors. Meanwhile, Ashland hit just .054 with 27 kills and 22 errors.
Facing her former team, senior transfer
Makenna Belcher led the Oilers with nine kills and a .250 hitting percentage. Senior
Alana Pohlman also contributed eight kills on an efficient .467 hitting rate, adding a season-high six blocks. Junior
Hannah Miller matched Pohlman with eight kills and added three aces, while senior
Emma White and junior Zoya Winklefoos each contributed three aces.
White continued to direct an effective offense for UF, recording 32 assists along with five digs. Sophomore
Grace Auer led the team defensively with 13 digs.
The Oilers return to action on Friday, Oct. 3, traveling to Tiffin to face the Dragons at 7pm.
