#10 Findlay Hosts Lake Erie for Regular-Season Home Finale

The Game
Findlay continues to play high-level football and heads into Week 10 at 8-1 overall and 6-1 in the G-MAC, ranked 6th in Super Region 3. The final regular-season home game of the year will take place this Saturday, Nov. 7 when the Lake Erie Storm come to town. The Storm are coming off a program-defining win against  Tiffin last week and would love nothing more than to upset the Oilers in Donnell Stadium. Kickoff is set for noon.

The Series
Findlay holds a dominant 13-1 all-time series lead against Lake Erie, dating back to their inaugural meeting in 2010 when the Storm earned a narrow 48-45 victory. Since that initial setback, the Oilers have completely controlled the matchup, reeling off 13 consecutive wins over the Storm. In their most recent clash on September 20, 2025, Findlay delivered another dominant performance in a 33-3 win, marking the third straight meeting in which the Oilers held Lake Erie to single digits. Findlay has outscored the Storm 671-213 overall in the series while holding them to an average of just 15.2 points per game.

#10 Findlay Oilers (8-1, 6-1 G-MAC)

2026 Findlay Football Coaching Staff

Currently sitting at 8-1 overall and 6-1 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play, Findlay enters the stretch run ranked No. 10 nationally in NCAA Division II and No. 6 in Super Region 3. The Oilers continue to solidify their postseason resume, coming off dominant, back-to-back shutout victories.

Defensively, the Oilers stand as one of the most imposing units in the country. Findlay boasts the No. 1 scoring defense in Division II, surrendering just 10.2 points per game. The Oilers also rank in the top 10 nationally in total defense (No. 3 at 242.0 yards per game), rushing defense (No. 5 at 75.1 yards per game), team tackles for loss (No. 5 at 8.6 per game), and team sacks (No. 6 at 3.22 per game). Additionally, Findlay ranks No. 11 nationally in third-down defense, holding opponents to a conversion rate of just 28.8 percent.

That defensive disruption is driven by an aggressive front seven and stingy secondary. Linebacker Jon Slaper leads the team with 59 total tackles, while defensive lineman Elijah Shankle anchors the pass rush with 10.0 tackles for loss and 8.0 sacks. Defensive back Christion Stokes, who had an interception last week at Thomas More, paces the defense with 31 solo tackles (45 total), and linebacker Riley Caldwell leads Division II with three fumble recoveries.

On offense, Findlay ranks No. 30 nationally in scoring (34.4 points per game) and No. 44 in total offense (404.6 yards per contest) while holding the nation's No. 12 overall completion percentage (66.3 percent). Senior quarterback Chase Harrison directs the efficient passing attack, completing 66.3 percent of his passes (17th in D-II) for 1,638 yards, 16 touchdowns, and four interceptions. Wide receiver Denny Furlong leads the team with 404 receiving yards and five touchdown catches, while Cameron Wright has hauled in a team-high 30 receptions for 369 yards and three scores. Running back Dominic Bennett leads the ground game with 598 rushing yards.

Special teams have also played a major role in dictating field position. The Oilers rank No. 10 nationally in kickoff return average at 26.6 yards per return, highlighted by a 98-yard touchdown return from Bennett. Wright adds additional juice in the return game, ranking No. 11 in the country in punt return average (13.0 yards per return) with one touchdown.

About the Opponent - (Lake Erie 4-5, 2-5 G-MAC)

The Lake Erie College Storm travel into this week's matchup riding an big wave of momentum following last week's program-defining victory over Tiffin. While the Storm have historically struggled in the G-MAC, this year's squad has rewritten the narrative by playing solid defense, protecting the football, and getting takeaways and an extremely high rate.

Offensively, the Storm are piloted by efficient quarterback Hunter Newell, who ranks among the conference leaders with a 64.4% completion rate while throwing for 1,380 yards and 11 touchdowns. Newell, and backup Josh Takats, have combined to throw just five interceptions all year, tied for the fewest in the G-MAC, while spreading the ball effectively to top target Devin Morgan, who leads the team with 38 catches and six touchdowns, and wideout threat Tyleik Maxwell (34 receptions, 542 yards, 5 TDs).

On the ground, Lake Erie relies on a balanced attack by Hakeem Quran, who leads the squad with 597 rushing yards and four touchdowns, alongside Julian Means-Flewellen, who adds 457 rushing yards to keep opposing defenses honest.

Defensively is where Lake Erie presents its biggest threat, ranking 6th in Division II in Red Zone Defense (63.3%) and 5th nationally with 21 turnovers gained. The front seven is anchored by Quinterrius Jemison, who has been one of the most dominant defenders in the country, leading the G-MAC and ranking top-10 nationally in both sacks (8.0) and tackles for loss (14.5) to go with 60 total tackles. Teaming up with Jemison is fellow edge disruptor Kemari Ward, who leads the team with 65 total tackles (7.2 per game) while adding 10.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks to form the conference's most lethal pass-rushing duo.

In the secondary, Jason Hewlett anchors an opportunistic backfield, tying for the G-MAC lead with five interceptions while adding eight passes defended and 34 tackles. Opposite Hewlett, defensive backs Anthony Anderson (3 interceptions, 8 passes defended) and Deyor Brumfield (8 passes defended) have shut down opponents passing attacks. Special teams also plays a vital role in Lake Erie's game plan, led by punter William Allen Batton, who flips field position effectively with a 41.7-yard punting average that ranks 27th nationally and 2nd in the G-MAC.
