Men's Soccer Wins G-MAC Tournament in Dominating Fashion

Painesville, Ohio- The University of Findlay men's soccer team captured the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Tournament Championship on Saturday, Nov. 7, with a 3-0 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan College. The sixth-seeded Oilers faced the fifth-seeded Panthers for the third time this season after splitting their two regular-season meetings. Findlay delivered a commanding performance in the championship match, shutting out the Panthers while putting the game out of reach to secure its second G-MAC Tournament title in the last three years.

Findlay got on the scoreboard early, finding the back of the net less than 10 minutes into the opening half. Off a corner kick from senior Tyler Pawlicki, senior Carson Oberski capitalized on a deflection to give the Oilers a 1-0 lead, which they maintained through halftime.

Oberski struck again in the 51st minute, finishing a breakaway down the middle to extend Findlay's advantage to 2-0. The Oilers delivered the final blow in the 72nd minute when junior Joey Chirco found the back of the net, pushing the lead to 3-0 and taking the life out of the Panthers' comeback hopes. Findlay controlled the match over the final 18 minutes, keeping the Panthers off the scoreboard to secure the shutout victory.

Findlay won the offensive battle as they recorded 20 shots, seven of which were on goal. Meanwhile, they held Kentucky Wesleyan to 13 shots, with just four being on goal.

Senior Ethan Hensley was perfect in goal, making four saves to maintain the shutout.

The Oilers now await the 2026 NCAA DII Men's Soccer Selection show which will determine their NCAA Super Region III matchup. The championship bracket will be revealed on Monday, Nov. 9 at 6:30pm ET.
