Men's Golf Finishes T2 at Greenwood Men's Invitational

Greenwood, S.C.- The University of Findlay men's golf team finished runner-up at the Greenwood Men's Invitational on Tuesday, March 10 after turning in an impressive third-round score of 275 (-13), the lowest 18-hole team score of the tournament. The event, hosted by Lander University, was held at Greenwood Country Club, a 6,800-yard, par-72 course. The field featured five teams ranked in the top-50 of the Clippd Scoreboard, including top-ranked Grand Valley State. The Lakers ultimately claimed the team title, finishing three strokes ahead of both Flagler College and Findlay, who tied for second place.

As a team, the Oilers posted rounds of 285 (-3), 287 (-1), and 275 (-13) for a 54-hole total of 847 (-17). The total of 847 (-17) marks the program's lowest tournament score since recording an 846 (-18) at the same event two years ago. The final-round 275 (-13) is also the team's lowest 18-hole score since the final round of the same tournament in 2024.

Leading the Oilers was the duo of senior Luke Metzger and freshman Ross Dietz, who both finished tied for fifth place. Metzger recorded rounds of 68 (-4), 74 (+2), and 67 (-5), while Dietz posted scores of 71 (-1), 71 (-1), and 67 (-5), as both golfers finished with 54-hole totals of 209 (-7). For Dietz, the finish marks the best of his collegiate career. Their 54-hole scores rank tied for the sixth-best in program history, while the 67 (-5) rounds are tied for the fifth-lowest single-round scores in program history and mark the first time that score has been recorded since October 2024.

Senior Zach Miller also finished in the top 25, carding rounds of 74 (+2), 70 (-2), and 70 (-2) for a 54-hole total of 214 (-2) to place tied for 17th.

Findlay will return to action on Saturday and Sunday, March 14-15, when they travel to Lexington, Kentucky to compete in the SVSU Spring Invitational.
