Oilers Surge to Lead at SVSU Invitational | Metzger Holds Individual Top Spot

Lexington, Ky. – The University of Findlay men's golf team opened play on Saturday, March 14, at the SVSU Men's Invitational at Kearney Hills Golf Links in Lexington, Kentucky. The 54-hole tournament, hosted by Saginaw Valley State University, features the 44th-ranked Oilers competing alongside the 41st-ranked Missouri University S&T, as well as several G-MAC and regional opponents.

After 36 holes, the Oilers hold the team lead with rounds of 292 (+4) and 281 (-7). Their second-round score of 281 was the lowest team round of the day by four strokes. Missouri S&T sits in second place at 1-under par.

Senior Luke Metzger delivered a strong performance through the opening two rounds, recording 10 birdies while posting scores of 70 (-2) and 69 (-3). His 5-under-par total gives him a two-stroke lead and solo possession of first place individually.

Freshman Ross Dietz also turned in a solid showing with rounds of 72 (E) and 71 (-1), placing him at 1-under par for the tournament and tied for sixth overall.

Junior Colin Schadek opened with a 75 (+3) before rebounding in the second round with a 70 (-2), moving into 12th place individually. Senior Zach Miller recorded rounds of 75 (+3) and 71 (-1), while sophomore Cahle Roth rounded out the top five with consecutive rounds of 75 (+3).

Competing as individuals for the Oilers were freshman Luke Siefker (73, 69), junior Jacob Marohn (81, 74), sophomore Tate Armstrong (77, 75), junior Jack Gerker (77, 76), and sophomore Cody Widener (79, 77).
