#8 Oilers Blank Yellow Jackets in G-MAC Opener

Findlay, Ohio — The No. 8 University of Findlay women's tennis team delivered a flawless performance on Saturday March 21, sweeping Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) opponent Cedarville University 7-0 at the YMCA East facility. The win marks the eighth in a row for the Findlay.

The Oilers (9-1, 1-0 G-MAC) set the tone early in doubles play, completely controlling all three courts to secure the opening point. Ivanova Lucero and Valentina Salek cruised to a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles. At the No. 2 flight, Audrey Ouellet teamed up with Polina Zaytseva for a dominant 6-1 victory, while Kovacevic and Maria Batinic blanked their opponents 6-0 at the No. 3 spot.

Singles action was more of the same. Even with the nation's 57th-ranked singles player, Kovacevic, resting for the singles session, Findlay won all six matches in straight sets and dropped a combined total of just 11 games across the entire lineup.

Batinic set the pace at the No. 1 flight, making quick work of Diana Ivanikhina 6-1, 6-1. Salek Rivero followed suit at No. 2 singles with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Delia Guzic, and Zaytseva matched that exact 6-3, 6-1 scoreline at the No. 3 spot against Mariana Camila Philipps Carrasco.

Ouellet was nearly perfect at No. 4 singles, dispatching Paula Curci 6-0, 6-1. Lucero was equally impressive at No. 5, defeating Susannah Prince 6-1, 6-0. Ivana Gombitova capped off the conference sweep for the Oilers with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Giulia Araujo De Barros at the No. 6 flight.

Findlay's rest will be short as they welcome in the Ashland Eagles tomorrow, March 22 for another G-MAC battle.
