Findlay, Ohio - The No. 8 University of Findlay women's tennis team continued its dominant run on Sunday, March 22, sweeping conference rival Ashland University 7-0 at the YMCA East. The Oilers won every match in straight sets to secure the G-MAC victory.
Findlay took control early in doubles play. The nation's No. 6 ranked duo, Anamarija Kovacevic and Audrey Ouellet, led the way at the No. 1 flight with a 6-2 win over Constanza Arancibia and Evalienna Pryor. At the No. 2 spot, Ivanova Lucero and Maria Valentina Salek Rivero were perfect, earning a 6-0 shutout. Polina Zaytseva and Maria Batinic capped the doubles sweep with a 6-1 victory at No. 3.
The momentum carried into singles, where the Oilers dropped a combined total of only 11 games across all six courts. Maria Batinic set a blistering pace at the top flight, earning a 6-0, 6-0 win over Arancibia. At No. 2 singles, nationally 57th-ranked Anamarija Kovacevic handled Anna Corbel 6-0, 6-2.
The bottom of the lineup was just as efficient. Ivana Gombitova mirrored the No. 1 result with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 6 singles. Polina Zaytseva (#3), Audrey Ouellet (#4), and Ivanova Lucero (#5) all secured convincing straight-set wins to complete the conference shutout.
Findlay is back in action on Friday, March 27 when they head to Hillsdale, Michigan to take on the Chargers.
