#10 Findlay Extends Win Streak to Ten with Road Victory at Hillsdale

Hillsdale, Mich. — The No. 10 University of Findlay women's tennis team traveled north and picked up a crucial 5-2 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) victory over Hillsdale College on Friday, March 27 at the Mary Jane Delp Tennis Courts. Findlay has now won ten straight matches and improves to 11-1 on the year with a perfect 3-0 record in league play.

The Oilers set the tone early by sweeping all three doubles matches to claim the opening point. At the No. 1 flight, the nation's No. 2-ranked duo of Anamarija Kovacevic and Audrey Ouellet put together a dominant 6-1 performance against Ane Dannhauser and Megan Hackman. The No. 3 pairing of Polina Zaytseva and Maria Batinic secured a 6-3 victory, while Ivanova Lucero and Maria Valentina Salek Rivero battled through a tight 7-6 tiebreaker win at the No. 2 spot to complete the sweep.

With a 1-0 advantage, Findlay relied on its depth in singles play to put the dual away.

Nationally 75th-ranked Maria Batinic led the charge at the No. 2 flight, defeating Briana Rees 6-3, 6-2. Maria Valentina Salek Rivero followed suit with a convincing 6-2, 6-1 win over Megan Hackman at No. 3 singles, and Polina Zaytseva matched her dominance with a 6-3, 6-1 victory against Dimitra Papastavrou at the No. 4 spot.

At No. 6 singles, Ivanova Lucero fought back after dropping her first set, ultimately defeating Esther Sura in a 10-point match tiebreaker, 5-7, 6-3, [10-4], to earn Findlay's fifth and final point.

Hillsdale captured two points on the afternoon, highlighted by a top-tier matchup at the No. 1 singles flight. In a battle of nationally ranked players, Hillsdale's #57 Ane Dannhauser defeated Findlay's #61 Anamarija Kovacevic 6-4, 6-4. The Chargers also picked up a point at No. 5 singles, where Julia Zlateva edged out Audrey Ouellet in a tight three-set tiebreaker, 6-4, 2-6, [10-7].

Findlay is back in action on Sunday, March 27 with a match against Northwood University. That match will be in Findlay and start at noon.
