Findlay, Ohio — The No. 10 ranked University of Findlay women's tennis team continued its strong run through Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play with a 4-1 victory over Northwood University on Sunday, March 29 in Findlay. That win gives the Oilers a 12-1 record and a 4-0 mark in G-MAC play.

The Oilers set the tone early by sweeping all three doubles matches to claim the opening point. The No. 3 pairing of Polina Zaytseva and Maria Batinic made quick work of their opponents with a 6-0 shutout. Shortly after, the nation's No. 2-ranked duo of Anamarija Kovacevic and Audrey Ouellet secured a 6-4 victory at the top flight. Ivanova Lucero and Maria Valentina Salek Rivero completed the sweep with a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles.

With a 1-0 advantage heading into singles, Findlay relied on the middle of its lineup to put the match away.

Nationally Maria Batinic, ranked 75th in the country in singles, was dominant at the No. 2 flight, cruising to a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Danijela Danilovic. Maria Valentina Salek Rivero was nearly as flawless at No. 3 singles, defeating Giada Ciampa 6-2, 6-0. Polina Zaytseva then delivered the match-clinching point for the Oilers at the No. 4 spot, battling through a tight first-set tiebreaker before putting away Valeria Amorocho Hernandez 7-6, 6-3.

Northwood picked up its lone point of the afternoon at the top singles flight, where Savannah Matuszewski managed to hold off 61st-ranked Anamarija Kovacevic 6-3, 7-6. With the overall dual match already decided at 4-1, the remaining singles matches at the No. 5 and No. 6 spots were left unfinished.

Friday, April 3 will be the next time the Oilers are on the courts. That contest will be against Thomas More in Crestview Hills, Ky.
