Laconia, Ind. – The University of Findlay women's golf team opened play Monday, March 30, at the Findianapolis Intercollegiate at Chariot Run Golf Club in Laconia, Indiana. The #3 Oilers are co-hosting the event alongside the #18 University of Indianapolis Greyhounds.
Findlay holds the team lead after posting rounds of 292 (+4) and 304 (+16), maintaining a four-stroke advantage over Indianapolis heading into the final round.
Junior Ashleigh Duflo paced the Oilers with rounds of 70 (-2) and 74 (+2), claiming sole possession of first place individually. Her day was highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 18th hole in the second round. Senior Hayley Dye also turned in a strong performance, opening with a 70 (-2) before adding a 78 (+6) to sit in a tie for third place. Duflo and Dye were the only players in the field to record under-par rounds in the opening round.
Senior Ellie Yeazell added consistent play with rounds of 73 (+1) and 75 (+3) to sit in a tie for third place individually, while sophomore Gracie James posted scores of 79 (+7) and 77 (+5). Sophomore Avery Thompson rounded out the team scoring with rounds of 83 (+11) and 79 (+7).
Competing as individuals, freshman Emma Myers carded rounds of 77 and 77, while sophomore Mia Ringger added rounds of 79, 85.
The Oilers will return to the course on Tuesday, March 31, to wrap up the final round of play.
