Findlay, Ohio- The University of Findlay baseball team stayed hot on Saturday, April 25, sweeping a doubleheader against Lake Erie College. The Oilers exploded offensively in game one for a 13-3 run-rule win, then edged out a 3-2 victory in a tightly contested second game. With the sweep, Findlay improves to 29-15 overall and 20-6 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play, while Lake Erie drops to 9-32 on the season and 8-18 in conference action.

Game One (W 13-3 | 8 inn.)
The Oilers struck first in the bottom of the second inning, taking advantage of an RBI groundout by sophomore Mason Myers that brought home junior Luke Senften. Later in the frame, sophomore Isaac Ramos added another run with a sacrifice fly, scoring senior Gavyn Smith, who had doubled to right field earlier in the inning.

Findlay broke the game open in the bottom of the fifth, scoring six runs on six hits. Junior Nick Palm got the rally started with an RBI single, and the Oilers added two more on a base hit from Senften to make it 5-0. Smith followed with his second double of the day, driving in two runs to extend the lead to 7-0. The inning capped off with Myers lining a single up the middle to score Smith, giving the Oilers a commanding 8-0 advantage.

The Storm answered with three combined runs in the sixth and seventh innings to cut the score to 8-3. The Oilers responded in the bottom of the seventh with two runs to make it 10-3, then added three more in the eighth to seal the run-rule victory. Smith delivered the final blow with an RBI single to left field, pushing the lead to ten and securing the 13-3 win for UF.

Offensively, Findlay was paced by Luke Senften and Gavyn Smith, as the duo each collected three hits, drove in three runs, and crossed the plate three times.

Senior Ethan Mohr earned the win for the Oilers, improving to 6-1 on the season. He went six innings, allowing two runs on just three hits while striking out three. Senior Connor Evanich worked the final two frames in relief, giving up one run on one hit and also punching out three.

Game Two (W 3-2)
Lake Erie struck first in the top of the first inning to take an early 1-0 lead, but Findlay quickly responded. A double from senior Casey Maruniak brought in the tying run, and senior Gavyn Smith followed with a sacrifice fly to score Maruniak and give the Oilers a 2-1 advantage.

Findlay added another run in the bottom of the second when freshman Keegan Snyder delivered an RBI groundout, extending the lead to 3-1.

After three scoreless innings, the Storm pushed across a run in the top of the sixth to cut the deficit to 3-2, but Findlay's defense held firm the rest of the way to secure the victory.
