Owensboro, Ky. - The No. 10 University of Findlay women's tennis team continued its flawless weekend road trip with a dominant 7-0 sweep over Kentucky Wesleyan College in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play on Saturday, April 4 at Centre Court in Owensboro, Ky. The Oilers have now won 13 matches in a row and have a record of 14-1 and 6-0 in G-MAC play.
The Oilers were completely untouchable in doubles action, sweeping all three flights without dropping a single game. Ivanova Lucero and Maria Valentina Salek set the tone with a quick 6-0 shutout over Ella Brown and Kameron Knight at the No. 1 spot. Amber Korey and Anamarija Kovacevic quickly followed with a 6-0 win at the No. 3 flight against Sara Osorio and Baylie McCreary to secure the doubles point. Polina Zaytseva and Kyna Decruy completed the perfect doubles showing with a 6-0 victory over Angela Ho and Anna Bongart at No. 2.
Carrying a 1-0 lead into singles, Findlay's lineup was absolutely overwhelming, surrendering only four total games across all six matches. Remarkably, four different Oilers secured 6-0, 6-0 "double-bagel" victories.
Ivanova Lucero was the first to finish, blanking Angela Ho 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. Anamarija Kovacevic duplicated that effort at the top flight, defeating Kameron Knight 6-0, 6-0. Audrey Ouellet officially clinched the dual match at No. 2 singles with a swift 6-2, 6-0 victory over Anna Bongart.
The bottom half of the lineup kept the momentum rolling. Kyna Decruy posted a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles over Baylie McCreary, and Ivana Gombitova followed suit with another 6-0, 6-0 shutout against Ella Brown at the No. 4 spot. Amber Korey rounded out the exceptional team performance by defeating Sara Osorio 6-0, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.
Findlay is back on the court on Saturday, April 11 for a home match against the Walsh Cavaliers.
