Oberlin, Ohio – The University of Findlay women's tennis team opened their season this weekend with the Oberlin Invitational, taking part in doubles competition on day one before competing in singles and doubles on day two.
Day One
Findlay opened the Oberlin Invitational with doubles competition on Saturday.
Polina Zaytseva and Simone Cameron opened play with a 6-3 loss to Choi and McNeal, while Maria Depablos and Roksana Kokocha picked up a 7-5 victory over Shah and Milani. Tingyi Li and Claudia Pastor fell to Brdarevic and Yates, 6-4, while Kyna Decruy and Ivana Gombitova defeated Carley and Syms, 6-4.
Marlee Fleming and Zaytseva defeated Austin and Beebe, 6-2, before Zaytseva and Cameron earned a 6-4 victory against Schmidt and Fuhr. Depablos and Kokocha fell to Choi and McNeal, 7-6 (5), while Li and Pastor defeated Ottoni and Gemio, 6-4.
Shah and Milani defeated Decruy and Gombitova, 6-4, before Fleming and Cameron earned a 6-0 victory over McLane and Schmeidebusch.
Findlay continued its afternoon play with Zaytseva and Cameron defeating Shah and Milani, 6-1, and Depablos and Kokocha defeating Schmidt and Fuhr, 6-1.
Li and Pastor fell to Choi and McNeal, 6-3, while Decruy and Gombitova dropped a 6-4 decision to Brdarevic and Yates.
Fleming and Cameron closed out day one with a 6-0 victory over Fearon and Schlak.
Day Two
The Oilers returned to the court Sunday for singles and doubles competition.
Tingyi Li opened singles play with a 4-0, 4-2 victory over Nicolette Fuhr, while Simone Cameron defeated Luciana Ottoni, 5-3, 4-0. Roksana Kokocha also earned a straight-set victory, defeating Anna Schmidt, 4-0, 4-1.
Kyna Decruy earned a three-set victory over Maria Jemio, while Claudia Pastor defeated Imani Shah, 4-0, 5-4 (4). Ivana Gombitova added a 4-1, 4-2 victory over Katarina Yates.
Jem Choi defeated Maria Depablos, 5-4 (4), 4-2, while Polina Zaytseva picked up a 4-1, 4-1 victory over Francesca Milani. Marlee Fleming also earned a victory, defeating Freya Rahm in a three-set match.
In doubles action, Pastor and Decruy defeated Ottoni and Jemio, 6-2. Li and Gombitova followed with a 6-4 victory over Shah and Milani.
Depablos and Kokocha earned a 7-6 (3) win over Schoulmann-Dore and Sivakumar, while Zaytseva and Cameron defeated Brdarevic and Yates, 6-4.
The Oilers will be back in action from October 2-3 when they travel to Midland, Mich. for the Northwood Hidden Duals.
