Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Oilers Blank Saginaw Valley on the Road

University Center, Mich. The University of Findlay women's soccer team picked up its second straight shutout victory on Sunday afternoon, defeating Saginaw Valley State University, 1-0, at Robert C. Braddock Field. With the win, the Oilers improve to 3-1-0 on the season, while the Cardinals fall to 2-2-0.

Findlay wasted little time finding the back of the net, as sophomore Addison Williams scored in the eighth minute to give the Oilers an early 1-0 advantage. Williams' goal came off an assist from Avary Zeisloft, marking the lone goal of the contest.

The Oilers carried the one-goal lead into halftime despite Saginaw Valley State holding a 4-3 advantage in shots during the opening 45 minutes. Findlay goalkeeper Cat Graves and the Oilers' defense kept the Cardinals off the scoreboard throughout the remainder of the match.

Saginaw Valley State applied pressure in the second half, recording eight shots compared to just one for Findlay. Graves came up with two saves in the final 45 minutes to preserve the shutout.

Graves finished the afternoon with two saves and her third clean sheet of the season.

Findlay finished the match with eight shots, including two on goal, while Saginaw Valley State recorded 12 shots with two on frame.

Williams led the Oilers with two shots, including one on goal which proved to be the difference. Zeisloft added one shot and an assist, while Raegan Smith recorded three shots.

Findlay will be back at home on Thursday, September 10 for their conference opener against Cedarville. Kickoff is set for 1 pm.
