Indianapolis, Ind. - Junior linebacker Jon Slaper has been named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Defensive Athlete of the Week, the league announced Tuesday, September 8. Slaper helped lead the University of Findlay football team to a dominant 30-10 victory over No. 9 University of Indianapolis in the Oilers' season opener on Saturday.

The Perry, Ohio native played a key role in Findlay's defensive effort, recording nine tackles, including two tackles for loss. Slaper and the Oilers' defense held the nationally ranked Greyhounds to just 10 points, with UIndy being held scoreless throughout the second half.
