Nate Smoot is entering his first year as an assistant coach for the men's basketball program.
Smoot comes to Findlay after spending time as a student assistant and volunteer graduate assistant at Youngstown State University. Throughout his time there, Smoot was part of a team that achieved remarkable milestones, including a regular-season conference championship, Horizon League-best 41 conference wins and a program-high 65 total victories.
During his tenure at Youngstown State, Smoot played a key role in the team’s historic success, contributing to a Division I school record of 14 home wins in consecutive seasons. He was instrumental in the Penguins' participation in back-to-back postseason tournaments for the first time in the university's history, including the 2023 National Invitation Tournament and the 2022 Basketball Classic.
A native of Brookfield, Ohio, Smoot earned his undergraduate degree in general studies from Youngstown State University in 2023.
