William Nowak begins his fourth season apart of the men’s basketball coaching staff. In his current role as an assistant coach, Will is responsible for game day basketball operations, game film management, assisting in alumni relations efforts, assisting in player development, heavily involved in the programs recruiting efforts, and is the head coach of both the men’s and women’s junior varsity programs.
Nowak joined the program as a student manager for the 2020-21 season. The Oilers finished that season 18-5, narrowly missing the NCAA Tournament. In his role, Nowak worked with game/practice film breakdown, organization of team equipment, and assisting with various parts of practice.
Nowak used that year of experience to begin a student coach internship for the 2021-22 season. In this role, Will became involved in many coaching roles, including recruiting, scouting, game day basketball operations, managing game film, and assisting with player development. The Oilers finished the season 19-11 and made the NCAA Tournament.
Following a successful internship year, Nowak was hired as an assistant coach. Nowak’s role in the program expanded to include social media coordinator, help in road trip travel planning and continued all his previous roles. He also expanded his role in the recruiting aspect of the program. He has helped to evaluate and recruit many of the current UF players and form relationships with a wide circle of high school and AAU coaches.
Nowak is from Dover, Ohio and graduated from the University of Findlay in 2022 with a dual degree in Marketing & Sports Management. During his time at UF, he competed on the cross country and track and field teams, was a SAAC Rep for cross country, and achieved a 4.0 GPA during his studies.
