Box Score The University of Findlay men's basketball team, ranked first in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) poll, defeated Hillsdale College 70-56 on Thursday, December 18 in Hillsdale, Michigan. The victory gives the Oilers an 8-0 record on the season with a 5-0 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).
Findlay got off to a tremendous start, racing out to a 22-3 on a three pointer by senior guard Tyler Evans at the 12:06 mark of the opening period. From there, the Oilers coasted their way through the rest of the contest to defeat the Chargers for the 18th straight time.
As a team, the Oilers shot 49.1 percent (27-of-55) from the field and hit 6-of-18 (33.3%) of their three point attempts. Findlay also recorded 11 steals but hit only 10-of-20 (50.0%) of their free throw attempts.
Hillsdale meanwhile only made 37.5 percent (21-of-56) of their field goal attempts and connected on a mere 10.0 percent (2-of-20) of their triple tries.
Senior forwards Josh Bostic and Morgan Lewis led the way as they each recorded double-doubles in the victory.
Bostic finished the game with 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the floor and added ten rebounds while Lewis chipped in 17 points on 8-of-10 shooting to go along with a career-high tying 11 boards.
Sophomore guard Nathan Hyde also reached double figures with ten points while junior guard Marcus Parker and senior center Lee Roberts chipped in eight points apiece.
The Chargers were led by Tony Gugino's 21 points and nine rebounds.
The Oilers will be back in action again on December 29 when they head to Kenosha, Wisconsin to take on the University of Wisconsin-Parkside at 8:00 p.m.
