Box Score The University of Findlay men's basketball team, ranked fourth in the initial National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) poll, defeated Malone University 81-70 on Thursday, November 19 in Croy Gymnasium. The win gives the Oilers a 2-0 record on the season.
Junior guard Nathan Hyde led the way with 18 points on 6-of-14 shooting from the floor while senior guard Marcus Parker chipped in 14 points on 3-of-9 shooting.
Senior guard Nick Coon and sophomore forward Greg Avery also reached double figures with 11 points apiece.
As a team, the Oilers shot 46.4 percent (26-of-56) from the floor and drained 8-of-19 (42.1%) three pointers. They also forced 23 turnovers which led to 28 points.
Malone out-rebounded Findlay 37-25 and also shot 50 percent (27-of-54) from the floor but the Oilers countered with 16 steals, six coming from freshman guard Aaron Robinson who also had nine points and four rebounds.
The Oilers also did some damage from the charity stripe, hitting 21-of-25 (84%) attempts while the Pioneers finished 7-of-8 (87.5%) from the free throw line.
The Oilers will be back in action again on Saturday when they travel to Indianapolis, Indiana to face the University of Indianapolis in a Midwest Region showdown. The non-conference game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
