#1 Oilers Start Slow, Win Big Over Warriors

The University of Findlay men's basketball team, ranked first in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) poll, overcame a sluggish start to defeat Wayne State University 72-49 on Saturday, February 14 in Croy Gymnasium. The win, which extended their regular season home winning streak to 70 games, gives them a 22-0 record on the season with an 18-0 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers shot only 41.9 percent (26-of-62) for the game but held the Warriors to a mere 36.8 percent (21-of-57) showing from the field and forced them into 18 turnovers.

Findlay also held a big advantage at the line, hitting 15-of-22 (68.2%) attempts compared to a 3-of-9 (33.3%) showing by Wayne State.

Senior forward Josh Bostic led the team in scoring with 20 points as he hit only 6-of-19 field goal attempts in the victory.

The All-American stuffed the stat sheet however as he added eight rebounds, six assists and five steals.

Senior forward Morgan Lewis recorded a double-double in the game, scoring 14 points to go along with ten rebounds while senior center Lee Roberts added eight points, five boards and three blocks.

The Warriors were led by Bryan Edwards, Bryan Wright, Ricky Rowse and Shane Lawal who each scored eight points apiece.

Findlay will be back in action again on Thursday, February 19 when they travel to Houghton, Michigan to take on Michigan Technological University at 7:30 p.m.
