7th Ranked Men's Track, 18th Ranked Women Finish Northwest Ohio Invite

The University of Findlay men and women's indoor track and field teams completed the Northwest Ohio Invitational on Friday, Jan. 20th in the Malcolm Athletic Center.

John Guagenti led the way for the seventh ranked men's team with a first place time of 34.25 in the 300-meter dash while Tim Sanders took first in the 60-meter hurdles (8.30) and third in the 60-meter dash (7.15).

The 4x400-meter relay team of Justin Eilerman, Dillon Webster, Andrew Leemaster and Joe Guerra took second with a time of 3:28.78 and shined individually. 

Eilerman finished second in the mile run (4:21.25) while Leemaster took third in the 800-meter run (2:02.41) and Guerra and Webster finished fourth and fifth in the 500-meter dash with times of 1:07.58 and 1:07.59, respectively.

Shawnathan Fort sprinted to a third place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.11.

The Oilers made a statement in the field events as Shane Shockey took first in the pole vault with an NCAA provisional mark of 16'00.75 while Glen Forsythe also had a first place finish in the long jump with a leap of 21'08.25.

Darren Bass and Taylor Miller took third and fourth in the shot put, each with NCAA provisional heaves of 53'05.50 and 53'00.00, respectively, while Colin Thomas had a second place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 43'07.75.

On the women's side, Raven Clay had another monster day with first place finishes in the 300-meter dash (41.33) and 60-meter hurdles with an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 8.45, in front of teammate Pam Showman who took second with a time of 9.63. 

Showman also had a first place finish in the high jump with a leap of 5'04.25.  Finishing behind her was Brittany Thomas in third (5'00.25) and Bethany Grimes in fourth (4'10.25).

The team of Deidre Latham, Kirsten Gaerke, Alexa Stults and Catherine Wiemers finished second in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:10.10.  Individually, Gaerke and Wiemers took second and third in the 400-meter dash with times of 1:01.57 and 1:02.11, respectively, while Stults and Latham finished third (2:22.76) and fifth (2:24.81) in the 800-meter run.

Jessica Rowland had a stellar day with two first place, NCAA provisional qualifying marks in the shot put (48'08.75) and weight throw (61'06.25).  That weight throw mark was also good enough to set a new school record.  Kendra Averesch also took second in the shot put with a heave of 42'05.50.

The Oilers will be back in action on Friday, Jan. 27th when they host the Findlay Classic in the Malcolm Athletic Center in Findlay, Ohio.
