Oilers Split With Warriors

The University of Findlay softball team split a doubleheader with Wayne State University on Wednesday, April 4, losing 5-1 in the opener before winning 8-7 in the nightcap. The Oilers are now 14-13 overall with a conference record of 5-7.

Brittany Dauterman took the loss in game won, allowing five runs off of eight hits while fanning five Warriors in her 6.1 innings of work.

Jacki Messersmith went 3-for-4 at the plate and was the lone Oiler run of the first game.

In game two, Tawna Whited collected her sixth win on the season and produced four strikeouts in her five innings on the mound. Grace Ammons pocketed her first save while giving up only two runs on two hits.

Tori Allen had three hits and three RBI in the second contest, including a two-shot homer over the right center fence.

The Oilers will be back in action on Friday, April 6, as they host Lake Erie for a doubleheader starting at 3:30 p.m.
