Oilers Cruise Past Storm, Win 67-41

The University of Findlay men's basketball team cruised to a 67-41 win over Lake Erie College on Saturday, Feb. 16 in Croy Gymnasium.  The win gives the Oilers a 17-6 record on the season with a 14-5 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers had 11 players score in the game and shot 47.6 percent (20-of-42) from the floor.  They also held the Storm to a mere 32.1 percent (18-of-56) shooting clip as no Lake Erie player reached double digures in the game.

Sophomore forward Jake Heagen, junior forward Greg Kahlig and freshman forward Dylan Kaufman each scored 11 points apiece in the victory.

Heagen also added four rebounds, three assists and two steals while Kahlig drained a three pointer at the 7:01 mark of the second half to become the Oilers 41st member of the 1,000-point club.

Kaufman meanwhile hit 4-of-6 shots from the field off the bench in only 15 minutes of action.

Senior forward Jack Smith added nine points and four rebounds while freshman guard Alphonso Baity contributed seven points, five rebounds, two blocks and a steal.

The Oilers will return to action again on Thursday, Feb. 21 when they host Walsh University.  The key GLIAC South Division contest is scheduled to tip at 6 p.m. in Croy Gymnasium.
