Oilers Rout Malone, Win 84-63

The University of Findlay men's basketball team came away with an 84-63 win over Malone University on Saturday, Feb. 1 in Canton, Ohio to give them a 14-4 record on the season.

The Oilers, who improved to 10-4 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) with the victory, shot 56.0 percent (28-of-50) from the floor and connected on 11-of-23 (47.8%) shot attempts from behind the three point line.

Senior forward Greg Kahlig led the way with 22 points on 6-of-15 shooting.  He also tied a career-high with seven assists, grabbed five rebounds and hit four three pointers in the win.

Sophomore guard Alphonso Baity established a new career-high with 21 points on 6-of-9 shooting.  He also contributed five rebounds and two steals in the game.

Junior forward Jake Heagen had a solid all-around game for the Oilers with 15 points, six rebounds and three assists while sophomore guard Dylan Kaufman chipped in 14 points, three assists and three steals.

Senior forward Mark Frilling stuffed the stat sheet with seven points, five rebounds, three assists and two blocks for Findlay as well.

The Pioneers shot 40.4 percent (23-of-57) from the floor and were led by Cory Veldhuizen's 19 points and nine rebounds.

The Oilers will now return home to host Hillsdale College on Monday at 8 p.m. in Croy Gymnasium.
