Findlay Falls Short vs. #4 Ashland

Findlay, OH – The University of Findlay women's basketball team fell just short in their game on Thursday, Jan. 21 against the #4 team in the country, Ashland. Findlay lost 78-69 and dropped their record to 11-6 overall with a 6-5 mark in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play. The loss is the third in a row for the Orange and Black. Ashland remains undefeated at 17-0.

Despite facing one of the country's best team, the Oilers looked strong early as they led 21-17 after the first quarter and 37-33 at the half. However, Ashland came on strong in the second half of play an ultimately pulled away for the victory.

The Oilers received a strong performance from junior Karli Bonar who hit 6-of-10 from behind the arc. Bonar, who scored 10 of her points in the first quarter, finished the game with 19 points and three assists. All of her shots were from deep.

Sophomore Haley Horstman also played well for Findlay with her 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting. She hit 4-of-4 from the free-throw line. Senior Margaret Wuebker was the only other Oilers player to reach double-figures. She scored 13 points and grabbed six rebounds, a team-high.

Freshman Anna Hintz was second on the team with five rebounds. She scored four points.

Findlay will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 23 when they host Lake Erie. That game will tip at 1:00 pm.
