Findlay Splits on Opening Day

Game 1 Box Score

The University of Findlay softball team opened their regular season with a doubleheader against Lindenwood University and University of Wisconsin-Parkside on Friday, Feb. 26th in Rosemont, Ill.  The Oilers won their first game in extra innings, 3-2, and fell in the second game, 8-1 to start the season 1-1.

In season opener, sophomore Chelsea McManaway claimed the victory for the Oilers, as she came in relief and recorded eight strikeouts and allowed no hits in three innings of work.

At the plate, junior Kelsey Borders went 2-for-3 with two singles, while sophomore Destinie Keeton and junior Katie Dunphy both went 1-for-3 with a home run.

Game 2 Box Score

In the second game of the day, freshman Hailey Bryan took the loss on the mound.

The Oilers only run came in the top of the fourth inning on a RBI single by Dunphy.  Sophomore Rebecca Harvey went 2-for-3 at the plate.

The Oilers return to action on Saturday, Feb. 27th with another double header against Lewis University and University of Illinois Springfield.  The first game is scheduled to begin at 10am, while the second game will start at 12pm.
