Box Score

Nashville, Tenn. – The University of Findlay women's basketball team took a tough loss on the road against the Trevecca Nazarene Trojans on Saturday, Jan. 23, dropping the contest by a score of 79-73. With the loss, the Oilers drop below the .500 mark at 5-6 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) schedule while TNU picks up their first win of the year to improve to 1-2.

The Oilers got out to a slow start, trailing by 12 eight minutes into the game, but over the final two minutes, Findlay went on a 9-2 run to cut the deficit to just five after the first quarter.

It took more than eight minutes into the second quarter, but the Oilers would tie the game at 28-28 on a jump shot by junior Amber Schweiger. Made shots by junior Sydney Kin and junior Bridget Landin to close the half gave the visiting Oilers a four point lead at the midway point.

Findlay's lead would extend to nine points six minutes into the half on a made layup by junior Paige Bellman, however, Trevecca went on a 13-6 run to close the quarter and pull to within two at 58-56 heading into the fourth.

The game was last tied at 69-69 with four minutes remaining, but it was the Trojans who outscored Findlay 10-4 in the waning minutes of the contest to secure their first win of the season.

The Oilers shot the ball reasonably well, making 45% of their attempts from the floor (28-for-62), but lost the rebound battle 50-to-36 including allowing 18 offensive rebounds to the Trojans.

Kin scored a game-high 28 points for the Oilers on 9-of-14 shooting and a 9-of-10 effort from the charity stripe. She also collected nine rebounds and had four blocked shots.
