Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Charleston, W.V.- The University of Findlay softball team took the diamond on Saturday, March 6th versus the University of Charleston (W.V.). In game two, the Oilers were unable to put a run on the board falling 2-0.

Game 1

Entering the game coming off a thrilling 14-12 extra-inning victory, the Oilers looked to continue in that trend. The scoring was stagnate until the Golden Eagles capitalized on an Oilers error to go up 1-0 after three innings of play.

The Oilers did not waste time with their next at bats in a big way. With Devyn Zuro on first after a two-out single, Avery Shepherd took a pitch out of the yard and took the lead 2-1.

After a shutout inning for Caragyn Yanek in the fourth, the Oilers capitalized on a Megan Fisher RBI double to drive in Dylan Wiley. With two outs, Caroline Turner singled in Jordyn Poulson to push their lead to 4-1 after the top of the fifth.

The Golden Eagles would threaten, but the Oilers defense remained strong to not allow a run.

In the seventh inning, the Oilers were able put the nail in the coffin with a five-hit, four run top of the inning that included two doubles by Shepherd and Kyla Snow. Emma Bode, Gloria Corona, and Savannah Harvey added a single in the inning as well.

Once again, the Golden Eagles tried to put pressure on the Oilers down 8-1 entering the bottom half of the seventh, but the Oilers defense allowed just one to secure the victory 8-2.

Shepherd, Fisher, and Zuro each had a multi-hit game with Shepherd adding a homerun and a double to go along with three RBIs. Fisher and Zuro also added a double in the game.

Yanek went threw a complete game allowing two runs on nine hits and three walks. Yanek tallied six strikeouts in the circle as well.

Game 2

The Oilers would move into game two with Megan Fisher in the circle looking to shutdown the Golden Flashes. Fisher dominated in the circle throwing a no-hitter, but the Oilers' defense was not sharp behind the performance of Fisher accounting for four errors in the game.

Fisher was sharp in the circle, but transitioned to a 3 for 4 performance at the plate. The other three hits for the Oilers came from Bailey Bates, Caroline Turner, and Madelyn Turner.

Although the Oilers were able to outhit the Golden Flashes six to zero, but nine runners left on base and some errors allowed the Golden Flashes to take game two, 2-0.

Fisher ended the game allowing two runs, none of which earned, five walks, and striking out ten batters to complete the no-hitter.

The Oilers will look to bounce back in their first home games on Saturday, March 13th versus the visiting Ashland University. The games are set for 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
