Oilers Shutout Dragons 3-0 | Advance to G-MAC Semis

Findlay, OH- The University of Findlay women's soccer team took on the Tiffin Dragons in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Quarterfinal round in the G-MAC women's soccer championships. The top-seeded Oilers and back to back G-MAC regular season championships defeated the eighth seeded Dragons in shutout fashion, 3-0. With the win, the Oilers improve to 8-1-1 on the year and the Dragons finish the year 4-5-1.

The scoring for the Oilers began in the 40th minute off a free kick opportunity. Freshman Alyssa Stark sent it down the field to find junior Adele Stradling open. Stradling headed it to freshman Hannah Rybicki who curved it over the goalie and in the back of the net for the first of three goals on the day for the Oilers.

On a cross by freshman Anna Meixner to sophomore Elizabeth Talabac, Talabac took the cross and scored with a header past the Dragons' goalie to push the lead to 2-0 in the 50th minute.

The final goal of the game came off the foot of sophomore Sam Francis from outside the box from a touch pass from junior Sami Hild in the 72nd minute.

The Oilers finished with a total of 13 shots on the day, 8 of which were on goal attempts. Francis led the attack with 3 shots, 2 on goal while Rybicki and freshman Ellie Tischler each had two shots. Six other Oilers tallied shots in the quarterfinal matchup as well.

The Oilers defense was not short of great on the afternoon helping secure their seventh shutout win of the season. On the year, the Oilers are allowing .486 goals and rank 29th in all of Division II.

Protecting the net in the game was freshman Kennedy Slovak who tallied three saves.

With the win, the Oilers advance to the semi-finals of the G-MAC tournament. The Oilers will play either fifth seeded Walsh or fourth seeded Ohio Valley in the semi with the time to be determinded for the game. The game is set to be played on Thursday, April 29th at Ohio Dominican Univeristy in Columbus, Ohio.
