Findlay has Huge day in Tennessee | Two 1st Place Finishes and a New Record

Cleveland, Tenn- The University of Findlay Men's and Women's track team competed at the Flames Invitational in Tennessee on Friday Apr 8th. Both teams had strong performances, meeting numerous NCAA provisional marks, and even setting a new school record on the Women's side. 

Men's- 

Starting for the Men's, freshmen Shakur Payton took 3rd in the men's high jump clearing 6 feet four inches. Following Shakur was Junior Cameron Stine took 6th in the event jumping 6 feet 2 inches. In the Pole Vault event, the men would take 3rd 5th and 8th with jumps of 15' 9" from senior Gabe Makin, 14' 9" from junior Jacob Michael, and 13' 9 ¼" from freshmen Zane Rohrbacher. Rounding out the field events for the men was the Triple Jump where sophomore Eliot Cummings took 4th jumping 44' 5 ¼". Starting off the running events for the men, junior Josh Verhoff took 10th with a time of 21.77. In the 5000m, sophomore Noah Fisher finished with a time of 14:31.67 taking 17th place and meeting the NCAA provisional mark. In the 10000, freshmen Jordan Foster met the NCAA provisional mark and took 23rd place with a time of 30:40.56 

Women's- 

The Women started things off strong taking 1st and 2nd  in the Pole Vault. Senior Savannah Amato and junior Morgan England jumped an impressive13 feet 1 ½ inches and meeting the NCAA provisional mark. In the Triple Jump Findlay would bring home 8th and 9th with jumps of 34' 8 ¼" from junior Simone Green and 34' 7 ½" from sophomore Madison Myers, The Women also took 1st place in the 400-meter hurdle when sophomore Kylie Ray finished with a time of 1:03.04. Following shortly behind Ray was junior Kenedi Hayden who took 8th place with a time of 1:08.69. In the 5000, graduate student Hannah Thompson took 3rd and met the NCAA provisional mark finishing with a time of 16:54.72. That time would also set a new School Record in the event.  

The Oilers will be back in action on Apr 9th as they continue competing at the Flames Invitational in Cleveland Tennessee.
