Findlay Caps Indoor Season with All-American Performances

Virginia Beach, Va.- The University of Findlay men's and women's track and field teams concluded the indoor season on Saturday, March 14, the final day at the NCAA Division II National Championship which was held the past two days at the Virginia Beach Sports Complex.

Senior Eyan Wilson got the Orange and Black started in the shot put, finishing 13th out of 18 competitors with a mark of 17.12m on his first attempt.

Findlay's longstanding success in the pole vault continued as the trio of sophomore Colleen Steinmetz, junior Victoria Harvey, and freshman Brayden Snider competed. Steimetz led the way with a sixth-place finish, clearing 4.27m after successfully clearing 3.92m, 4.07m, 4.17m, and 4.27m on her second attempt. Her mark of 4.27m sets a new program record, surpassing the previous mark of 4.16m set by Morgan England in February 2021. Harvey placed 11th with a mark of 3.92m, while Snider finished 12th with the same mark. With their finishes, Steimetz earned first team all-American honors, while Harvey and Snider were named second team all-Americans. This marks Harvey's second all-American honor of her career.

Senior Leah Smith placed eighth in the 60m with a time of 7.49 before finishing fourth in the 200m in 23.68, just 0.47 seconds behind the eventual national champion. Smith earned first team all-American honors in both events adding to her second team all-American status in both events from last season.

The event concluded with a fifth-place finish from the women's 4x400 relay team. Last year's national runners-up crossed the line in 3:41.15 with a squad of sophomore Zanri Black, junior Mary Ellis, freshman Katharina Rupp, and senior Leah Smith, earning first team all-American status.

The meet concludes the Oilers' indoor campaign as they now turn their attention to the outdoor season, which begins Saturday, March 28 at the Yellow Jacket Invitational in Cedarville, Ohio.
