Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay men's soccer team hosted visiting Northwood Timberwolves at Elmer Graham Stadium on Thursday, Oct. 26. The Oiler's suffered a devastating loss from a last second goal by the Timberwolves. With this loss the Oilers record now moves to 5-6-4 overall and 3-6-3 in in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play while Northwood's record moves to 6-7-3 and 5-5-2 in the G-MAC.
The first half ended in a tie with both teams scoring two goals. Just ten minutes into the game,
David Hug scored the first goal of the match, assisted by
Nick McCracken. Five minutes later,
David Hug scored his second goal of the game, assisted by
Tyler Pawlicki, putting the Oilers in the lead. Northwood scored their second goal of the game two minutes after, tying the half.
Zach Lauron scored the Oilers only goal of the second half, assisted by
David Hug and putting Findlay once again in the lead. Northwood tied the game at the 72 minute mark and at 89:59 with one second remaining in the game, the Timberwolves made a goal putting them in the lead and making them victorious.
Northwood had two yellow cards to Findlay's zero. Timberwolves outshot the Oilers 12-11, although both teams were tied for saves 4-4.
Maciej Gaszynski and
Nick McCracken had one shot each.
Christian Palushaj attempted three shots during play and
David Hug,
Zach Lauron and
Carson Oberski each took two shots. Senior goalkeeper
Andrew Boulton made four saves during play.
The Oilers will be back in action Saturday, Oct. 28 when they travel to Ashland University to face the Eagles at 7pm.
