Box Score Findlay, Ohio- The University of Findlay women's soccer team faced off against the Trevecca Nazarene University Trojans at DeHaven Soccer Complex on Oct. 5. The Oilers battled in the rainfall for the 3-1 win over the Trojans. With the win the Oilers advance to 5-3-2 overall and 5-1 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) while the Trojans fall 3-4-3 overall and 3-1-3 in the G-MAC.
After a long 90 minute battle in the mud the Oilers pulled away with the win. With just eight minutes left in the first half sophomore Ava Ayers would find the back of the net while scoring her first collegiate goal putting the score at 1-0. Then just eight minutes into the second half sophomore Payton Miller would score from a bicycle kick off an assist from sophomore Sydney Noble giving the Oilers a 2-0 lead. However, in the 60th minute the Trojans would score closing the gap to 2-1. Eight minutes later sophomore Kaitlyn Siefert would also score her first collegiate goal off an assist from Noble putting the final score at 3-1.
The Oilers controlled the game outshooting the Trojans 14-9 while senior goalkeeper Kennedy Slovak recorded five saves to help lead the Oilers to the win.
The Oilers look ahead as they host the Walsh University Cavaliers on Sat Oct. 7th at 1pm out on the DeHaven Soccer Complex Senior Day will be held prior to kickoff.
