Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay men's soccer team hosted visiting Walsh University Cavaliers this Saturday, Oct. 7 at DeHaven Soccer Complex. The Oilers battled the Cavaliers in the cold and rain for 3-1 victory. With this win the Oilers record advances to 5-3-3 on the season and 3-3-2 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play while Trevecca's record moves to 5-3-2 and 3-3-1 in the G-MAC.
Twenty minutes into the second half, junior Maciej Gaszynski scored the Oilers first goal of the game from an assist by junior Christian Palushaj. Two minutes later Walsh scored their only goal of the game, tying the match. In the 67th minute of play Palushaj found the back of the net off a penalty kick. With just four minutes remaining in the game, senior Zach Lauron scored from an assist by senior David Hug, making the final score 3-1 in facor of the Oilers.
The contest was physical as Walsh ended the game with three yellow cards and one red card, while Findlay was only given one yellow card. The Oilers picked up nine fouls during play while the Cavaliers were given ten.
Senior goalkeeper Andrew Boulton made a total of three saves during play. Walsh out-saved Findlay 4-3 and out-shot Findlay 17-12.
The Oilers are back in action when they host Lake Erie Wednesday, Oct. 11 at 4pm at the DeHaven Soccer Complex.
