Findlay, Ohio- The University of Findlay women's soccer team faced off against the Walsh University Cavaliers at DeHaven Soccer Complex on Oct. 7. After an explosive first half the Oilers dominated the Cavaliers 4-1. With the win the Oilers advance to 6-3-2 overall and 6-1 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) while the Cavaliers fall 6-3-1 overall and 4-3 in the G-MAC.
The Oilers took the early 1-0 lead over the Cavaliers by a goal from sophomore Sydney Noble just four minutes into the first half. Just six minutes later, senior Hannah Rybicki would find the back of the net giving the Oilers a 2-0 lead. In the 29th minute senior Ellie Tischler tickled the twine off an assist from Rybicki putting the score at 3-0. The Cavaliers attempted to close the gap in the 83rd minute after a goal putting the score at 3-1. However just two minutes later a red card would put the Oilers in a position to expand the lead. Senior Anna Meixner would score off the penalty kick putting the final score at 4-1.
The Cavaliers lead the game in shots outshooting the Oilers 13-12. While senior goalkeeper Kennedy Slovak managed to record seven saves to help shut down the Cavaliers offense.
The Oilers look ahead to hosting the Lake Erie College Storm on Wednesday Oct. 11th at 1pm out on the DeHaven Soccer Complex.
