The Game
The University of Findlay men's soccer team has earned a trip to the 2023 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Championship for the fifth consecutive season and will enter the tournament as the eighth seed. The eight-seed tournament begins on Saturday, Nov. 4 with three four quarterfinal matchups. Five days later, the tournament will move to the highest remaining seed's site.
Findlay's quarterfinal game will be played Saturday at 1:00pm EST and sends the Oilers on the road to take on the regular season champions, Tiffin University in Tiffin, Ohio. The two teams have met 25 times since 2011 and the Oilers hold a 5-16-4 record against the Dragons in those games. Findlay's latest win against Tiffin came in 2021, a 3-0 win at DeHaven Soccer Complex.
The two teams faced each other earlier this week, Tuesday, Oct. 31. The Oilers and Dragons tied at one a piece. This tie gave Findlay a point in the conference standings which ultimately secured their final spot in the tournament.
