Allendale, Michigan - The University of Findlay men's basketball team dropped a road contest on Tuesday, November 21 by a score of 81-70 against Grand Valley State University. The Oilers trailed by just two at the half but were outscored by nine by the Lakers down the stretch, suffering an 11-point loss. With the defeat the Oilers are now 1-3 on the year while GVSU improves to 2-2.
The Oilers raced out into the lead early on in the contest, leading 10-2 less than three minutes into the game. That lead slowly dwindled down over the remainder of the half before GV finall took the lead at 35-34 with less than two minutes in the half, ultimately taking a 39-37 advantage into the break.
Findlay tied the score at 41 quickly out of the half, but a 10-0 run by the Lakers over the next two minutes put the home team in front for good. Although the Oilers did cut their deficit to three a handful of times, GV always punched right back, leading 81-67 with just six seconds to play. A triple at the buzzer by sophomore
Khalil Luster got Findlay to the 70-point mark.
GVSU owned the paint, scoring 46 points from in close while Findlay managed just 30. The home team also dominated on the boards, collecting 49 rebounds to just 27 for the Orange and Black.Â

Anthony Johnson scored 12, had four boards, and two assists. Senior
Joey Edmonds led the team with a trio of helpers while senior
Hayden Stone had two blocks to go along with seven points.
Findlay returns to action on Nov. 28 with a trip to Nashville, Tenn. where they will open up Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play with a game against the Trevecca Nazarene Trojans.
