Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay women's soccer team, ranked tenth in the latest NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Poll, picked up an impressive 3-0 victory in the first round of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Tournament, taking down the Trevecca Nazarene Trojans at DeHaven Field. Findlay improves to 11-4-4 on the year while the Trojans end their season with a record of 6-7-5.
Findlay got the scoring started just 15 minutes into the game when sophomore
Sydney Noble fought off a defender and blasted a ball into the back left corner of the net, putting the Oilers ahead 1-0.
16 minutes later, a miscue by the Trojans' defense gave senior
Madison Mlsna the ball 20 yards out with the TNU goalkeeper just five yards off the ball. Mlsna lobbed her shot over the goalie's head and the Oilers took a commanding 2-0 lead.
Just before the half, the nail in the coffin for Trevecca. Inside a minute to play in the first stanza, the Oilers earned a corner kick after a shot by sophomore
Kaitlyn Siefert was deflected over the end line. Sophomore Reagan Smith took the corner, bending the ball perfectly off the back post and into the net for a 3-0 advantage at the break.
Findlay had six shots in the second half while Trevecca had just one, their only shot of the game, as the clock wound down to 0:00, sending the Oilers into the next round of the tournament.
In total, the Oilers fired 13 shots, ten of which were on goal, while the Trojans had just the one shot.
The Oilers, seeded fourth in the event, advance to the semifinal to take on regular season champion Northwood University in Midland, Michigan on Thursday, Nov. 9.
