Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Findlay Moves Past Lake Erie | Win 3-1

Painesville, Ohio- The University of Findlay women's volleyball team recorded a win to conclude their weekend road trip. They took down Lake Erie College by a score of 3-1 (25-9, 25-15, 21-25, 25-15). With the win Findlay improves to 21-6 on the season and 14-3 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play. Meanwhile, Lake Erie falls to 4-24 on the year with a 3-14 mark in league play.

The Oilers opened the first set rattling off ten consecutive points. That momentum would continue, as the Orange and Black breezed to a 25-9 win. The second set was a bit closer as most of the action was back-and-forth. Findlay was able to seal the set when they scored seven straight points to win the second set, 25-15.

Lake Erie held the advantage in the third throughout as they led for a majority of the set. The home team would force a fourth set but it wouldn't be enough to hold off the Oilers. Findlay found their rhythm once again, going on another ten point run midway through the set to take a ten point lead. A lead that they never gave up as Findlay won the fourth set 25-15.

As a team, the Oilers were able to hit .311, recording 53 kills on 119 attempts while making 16 errors. Meanwhile, they held the Storm to just a .071 hitting percentage. Lake Erie recorded 28 kills on 98 attempts while recording 21 errors.

Findlay was led on offense by sophomore Lauren Foerster who recorded fourteen kills while hitting an impressive .611.

Three other Oilers recorded double-digit kills. Freshman Kirsten Bomholt chipped in with twelve while sophomore Alana Pohlman and freshman Hannah Miller both added ten.

Also contributing offensively was junior Ava Doster. The libero recorded six aces on the day. Doster also performed well on defense, leading the team in digs with fifteen. Senior Alissa Rhodes recorded eight.

Sophomore setter Emma White suffered an injury early in the second set but still was able to contribute eleven assists on the day. Junior Maya Maurer then stepped in, recording a career-high 27 assists while guiding Findlay to the win.

The Oilers will be back in action Friday, Nov. 10 as they welcome the Northwood University Timberwolves to Croy Gymnasium. That contest is scheduled to begin at 7pm.
