Findlay Battles Back to Win Over Ashland | Foerster Dominates

Ashland, Ohio- The University of Findlay volleyball team continued its winning ways on Friday, Sep. 22 with a narrow 3-2 (25-18, 19-25, 25-27, 25-12, 18-16) victory over the Eagles of Ashland University. With the win, the Oilers move to 9-2 on the year with a 3-1 mark in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play while the Eagles fall to 8-4 with a 2-1 record in the league.

As a team, Findlay hit .257 while picking up 67 kills and making 24 errors. The Oilers were able to hold Ashland to a .149, with 54 kills and 29 errors.

Sophomore Lauren Foerster orchestrated one of the most commanding displays in recent years. The Salem, Wisconsin native racked up 26 kills while hitting a dominant .735. Her hitting percentage ranks eighth all-time in program history. In fact, her 26 kills stands as the highest number achieved by a player with fewer than 50 attacks. Foerster also added four blocks on the night.

Freshmen duo Kirsten Bomholt and Hannah Miller also played well for UF. Bomholt recorded 15 kills while Miller chipped in 14. 

Sophomore Emma White led the team in both assists and digs. She had 58 assists and 17 digs. Meanwhile, sophomore Kenzie Hoelscher led the team in blocks with five. 

The Oilers will be back in action tomorrow, Sep. 23 to take on the Ohio Dominican Panthers at 1pm.
