Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Oilers Suffer 5-1 Loss to Eagles

Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay men's soccer team faced off against Ashland University Eagles this Saturday, Sept. 30 at DeHaven Soccer Complex. Despite a beautiful goal off a penalty kick, it wasn't enough to come back against the Eagles who won the game 5-1. With this loss the Oilers record now moves to 3-3-3 on the season and 1-3-2 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play while Malone's record moves to 3-5-2 and 3-1-2 in the G-MAC.

This game was close to the hearts of players, friends, family, and fans of Oiler Nation as Neal Lauron was honored. Neal was the father of senior Zach Lauron and after a long battle with cancer passed away earlier this year. Mr. Lauron was a huge supporter of the UF men's soccer team and took photographs for the team over the last three years.

The lone goal of the game was scored by junior Christian Palushaj in the 72nd minute of play off of a penalty kick.

The Oilers took a whopping ten corner kicks during play compared to the Eagles two. AU quadrupled UF's fouls 8-2. Findlay had zero yellow cards compared to Ashland's three. The Eagles outshot the Oilers 15-12, but Findlay out-saved Ashland 7-5.

Senior goalie, Andrew Boulton made six saves during play and freshman goalie Ethan Hensley made one save. Junior Maciej Gaszynski, senior Mitchell Hanosh, senior David Hug, junior Christian Palushaj each had one shot during play. Junior Brendan Ash took two shots and senior Nick McCracken took six shots.

The Oilers are back in action when they face Trevecca Nazarene Thursday, Oct. 5 at 1pm at the DeHaven Soccer Complex.
