Findlay Dominates in Home Opener | Wins 3-0 Over Bloomsburg

Findlay, Ohio- The University of Findlay women's volleyball team began their home slate as they took on the Bloomsburg University Huskies in the Findlay Classic. The Oilers picked up a dominating win by a score of 3-0 (25-18, 25-9, 25-18). Findlay is now 4-1 on the season while Bloomsburg falls to 0-4.

The first set saw back-and-forth action; however, Findlay never trailed. With the Oilers ahead by three at 21-18, they recorded four straight points to put the set away. Findlay hit .343 in the set compared to Bloomsburg's .167.

Despite trailing early in the set, Findlay scored seven straight points to regain the lead at 9-4. They never trailed again, as they allowed Bloomsburg just five more points. The Oilers hit an impressive .500  while the Huskies struggled, hitting -.154.

The momentum stayed in Findlay's favor in the third set. A 7-0 run late in the set gave the Oilers a ten point lead. Needing two more points for the win, the Huskies wouldn't go down without a fight. The home team prevailed, as a kill by freshman Hannah Miller followed by a Bloomsburg service error,  gave Findlay their fourth win of the season.

As a team, the Oilers hit a season-high .368 while racking up 43 kills and making only eight errors. Meanwhile they held the Huskies to .076, allowing just 24 kills.

Freshman Kirsten Bomholt has become the Oiler's new go-to outside hitter. She recorded fifteen kills, while hitting .353. Also defining herself in Findlay's lineup is fellow freshman Hannah Miller who added nine kills in addition to nine digs.

Sophomores Kenzie Hoelscher and Alana Pohlman also found success up front. They both chipped in seven kills each. Hoelscher hit an .636 while also adding four blocks and three aces. Sophomore Emma White recorded 36 assists on the night.

Defensively, junior Ava Doster led the team with 13 digs. Junior Alissa Rhodes added seven.

Findlay will be back in action as they take on Indiana (Pa.) tomorrow, Sep. 7, at 7pm. The Oilers will continue to host the Findlay Classic in Croy Gymnasium Friday and Saturday. More information on the event can be found HERE.
