Oilers Finish On Top of Late Night Thriller with IUP

Findlay, Ohio- The University of Findlay volleyball team welcomed Indiana University Of Pennsylvania to campus for the Findlay Classic. The two teams faced off Friday, Sep. 8 in a night-cap of day two with the match starting at 8:22pm. It took the Oilers just two hours to put the Crimson Hawks away as the home team won 3-1 (25-13, 25-27, 25-18, 25-23). They move to 5-1 on the year while Indiana PA falls to 4-4. 

As a team, Findlay hit just .169, picking up 52 kills and making 28 errors. However, they were able to hold Indiana PA to a .031 hitting percentage. The Crimson Hawks recorded 33 kills with 29 errors.

The Oilers were once again led by the freshman duo of Kirsten Bomholt and Hannah Miller. Bomholt recorded a team-high 16 kills and hit .250. Miller added 14 kills of her own while also recording twelve digs and two blocks.

Standout sophomore Alana Pohlman chipped in eleven kills. The all-region middle hitter recorded eleven kills and five blocks for Findlay. She hit .318. Fellow sophomore Kenzie Hoelscher also assisted in the victory as she hit a team-high .571, adding eight kills. 

Sophomore Emma White recorded 47 assists.


Defensively, freshman Miya Ellerbrock led the team with twelve digs. Emma White and junior Alyssa Rhodes both added ten digs for the Oilers.

Findlay will be back tomorrow, Sep. 9 as they cap off the Findlay Classic with a matchup against former GLIAC rival Wayne State. That game is scheduled to begin at 5pm in Croy Gymnasium.
