#2 Ashland Proves Too Much for Findlay | Lose 81-32

Findlay, Ohio- The University of Findlay women's basketball team suffered an 81-32 loss in Croy Physical Education Center to #2 Ashland University Eagles on Saturday, Jan. 13. With the loss Findlay falls to 7-9 on the season and 2-5 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC). Meanwhile, the Eagles improve to 14-1 on the year and remain a perfect 7-0 in G-MAC play.

Just a seven-point game through the first quarter, Ashland blew the game open in the second as they outscored Findlay 23-6 in that period. They continued the same dominant play in the third quarter outscoring the home team 28-5 in that frame. Ashland held a 47 point lead heading into the final ten minutes of play, which they ultimately grew to take a 49 point win. 

The Eagles played like they were one of the best teams in the country as they shot 28-of-66 (.424) from the floor. Findlay struggled from the floor, making just 12-of-48 (.250) and 2-of-14 (.143) from deep. 

The Oilers earned 14 shots from the charity stripe but failed to connect, making just six. Meanwhile, Ashland went 16-of-18 from the free throw line. The Eagle's big advantage came on turnovers in which they turned the Oiler's 23 turnovers into 30 points. 

Senior Kate Ellis led Findlay in scoring, recording seven points on 3-of-7 shooting. She also grabbed seven rebounds and added two assists. Freshman MacKenzie Schulz chipped in six points off the bench which all came from beyond the arc. 

Sophomore Alyssa Ziehler and freshman Addisyn Freeman both added five points. 

Findlay is back in action on Thursday, Jan. 18 as they welcome Cedarville University to Niekamp Arena. That game is scheduled to tip-off at 5:30pm.
