Columbus, Ohio- The University of Findlay women's basketball team took on the Ohio Dominican University Panthers in a midweek Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) matchup on Thursday, Jan. 25. Findlay led from start to finish, clinching a commanding 71-49 victory. With the win, the Oilers improve to 8-10 on the season and 4-6 in league play. Meanwhile, Ohio Dominican falls to 5-13 on the year with a 2-9 mark in the conference.

Findlay established an early ten-point advantage within the first four minutes, setting the tone with the collaborative efforts of sophomore Alyssa Ziehler and senior Kate Ellis. Ohio Dominican ended the quarter with a 14-4 run, tying the contest heading into the second quarter. Findlay regained the ten-point lead quickly, outscoring the Panthers 17-7 in the second frame.

The second half began with much of the same as the Orange and Black, which never trailed on Thursday, outscored ODU 19-14 over the next nine-and-a-half minutes, building a 15-point lead at 50-35. The dominating effort would continue into the final frame as the Oilers built a 20-point cushion for the remaining minutes of the game. Findlay would cruise through the final minutes to secure the 22-point victory.

On the evening, the Oilers hit 29-of-60 from the floor (48.3%), their best shooting performance of the season. This included just 5-of-24 (20.8%) from three-point range. Findlay dominated on the glass, out-rebounding the Panthers 40-to-29 including grabbing 13 offensive boards. Scoring in the paint was also a strength for the visiting team, putting up 40 points from the key while allowing just 22.

Leading the Oilers was sophomore Alyssa Ziehler who recorded 12 points on 6-of-9 from the field. She also grabbed ten rebounds to secure her fourth double-double of the season. Freshman MacKenzie Schulz also recorded 12 points on 4-of-6 from the floor which included 2-of-3 from beyond the arc. She also secured four rebounds.
