Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay women's golf team, ranked third in the country in the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Division II rankings, wrapped up play at the 2024 William Beall Fall Classic at Findlay Country Club on Tuesday, Oct. 1. After 54 holes of play, the Oilers came out on top, shooting a 291 (+3) on the final day to finish with a total score of 870 (+6). That three-round total is tied for the sixth-best in program history. This is also the first time that Findlay has won a tournament on its' home course since the 2017 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Fall Preview and is the first time since 2013 that the Oilers have won the William Beall Fall Classic, then called the Bing-Beall Classic.
Findlay, which held the overnight lead, held of the University of Missouri St. Louis (UMSL) and #8 Lynn University to take the team title. The Oilers, which sent out two teams, had five players finish in the top-ten in the event and seven in the top 20.
Senior Mary Kelly Mulcahy was the top finisher for UF, shooting 71 (-1) on Tuesday to finish in third in with a score of 216 (E). She birdied her first hole of the day, playing her front nine at one-under, and shot even-par down the stretch to secure all-tournament honors.
Also picking up a spot on the all-tournament team was freshman Avery Thompson. She, along with junior Hayley Dye, tied for fourth at 217 (+1). Tying for seventh, after a final round 72 (E), was senior Erin Mulcahy who would end the tournament at two-over (218).
