Canton, Ohio- The University of Findlay women's soccer team traveled to Canton, Ohio to face off against the Malone University Pioneers. The Oilers dominated the field walking away with a 3-0 victory over MU. With the win the Oilers are now 5-3-1 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play and 5-4-3 overall. While the Pioneers drop 5-5 in G-MAC play and 7-5-1 overall.
The Oilers offense was jump started by senior Ellie Janszen finding the back of the net off an assist from sophomore Morgan Sparks with just seven minutes left in the first half giving them the 1-0 lead. In the 56th minute junior Sydney Noble would hit the target off a penalty shot giving them the 2-0 lead. Then just three minutes later junior Payton Miller buried it in the net giving the Oilers the final score of 3-0.
The Oilers offense was firing on all cylinders as they recorded 29 shots, 17 on target to the Pioneers five shots, three on target. Junior goalkeeper Audrey Gibson-Zweifel recorded three saves on the day to help shut down MUs offense.
The Oilers will be back in action Thursday Oct. 24th as they welcome the Tiffin University Dragons to DeHaven Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 4pm.
