Findlay, Ohio - The University of Findlay women's soccer team took on conference rival Tiffin University on Thursday, Oct. 24, defeating the Dragons by a score of 2-1. With this victory, the Oilers have won three games in a row, which is now their longest win streak of the season. Findlay now sees their record rise to 6-4-2 overall and 6-3-1 in conference play. With this loss, Tiffin falls to 1-11-2 overall and 1-7-2 in conference.
The Oilers came red hot out of the gates, scoring both of their goals in the first ten minutes of play. Scoring first for Findlay was junior Sydney Noble, who found the back of the net on a breakaway in the fourth minute for her team high ninth goal of the season. Following up Noble was freshman Avary Zeisloft, who scored in the seventh minute by way of a well placed pass from Hannah Rybicki. With this goal, Zeisloft has recorded both her first goal of the season and her collegiate career.
The Dragons would finally break through in the 39th minute, when Sydney McBride scored after receiving the corner kick pass and putting home a well placed shot from the top of the box. This would be all Tiffin would get, however, as Findlay goalkeeper Cat Graves turned away the other three Dragon shots on goal. The Findlay offense proved to be the difference maker in the game, outshooting Tiffin 19-6.
The Oilers will be back in action Saturday, Oct. 26 when they are back at DeHaven field to take on Thomas More at 1 pm.
