Hammond, Ind. - The University of Findlay volleyball team concluded the 2024 Midwest Region Crossover on Saturday, Oct. 19 with a 3-1 (25-20, 20-25, 25-21, 25-21) loss at the hands of the Michigan Tech Huskies in the Hammond Sportsplex. That defeat gives the Oilers, which have not come away with a winning record at the Crossover since 2016, a record of 14-6 on the year while Michigan Tech, including a loss to the Oilers earlier in the year, now improve to 11-7.
Findlay trailed just 13-12 midway through the first set, but at that point, six of the next seven points were won by Michigan Tech, putting the Huskies in front 19-13. The Oilers did rally to pull within one at 21-20, but MTU secured four straight points to end the set.
In the second set it was a run by the Oilers that made the big difference. Trailing 8-7, UF won eight consecutive points to take a 15-8 lead and earn control of the set.
Leading 20-19 in the third set, MTU scored six of the final seven points to win the set. They would go on to win in the fourth set, earning the victory.
As a team, the OIlers, which had a record of 9-1 against MTU since 2011, hit .173 while the Huskies hit .259.
Freshman 
Grace Auer led the team with 13 kills, hitting .375 in the match, while adding three blocks. Sophomore 
Hannah Miller had 12 kills, 11 digs, and four blocks while junior 
Alana Pohlman had 11 kills and a team-high five blocks.
Junior 
Kenzie Hoelscher also reached double digits with ten kills and four blocks. Sophomore 
Jenna Leugers had five kills and two blocks.
Junior 
Emma White had 43 assists and tied a season-high with five service aces. Senior 
Ava Doster had a team-high 21 digs while sophomore 
Miya Ellerbrock had 14 digs.
Findlay is back on the court on Saturday, Oct. 26 for a home game against the Tiffin Dragons. That game will begin at 1:00 pm in Croy Gymnasium.
Following the event, the three conference's named a Crossover All-Tournament Team that included setter 
Emma White.
