Findlay, Ohio- The University of Findlay volleyball team is back in the win column after hosting the Tiffin University Dragons in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) match on Saturday, Oct. 26. Despite a close first set, the Oilers went on to a 3-0 (26-24, 25-17, 25-19) victory and improve to 15-6 on the season with a 7-2 mark in the conference. Meanwhile, Tiffin falls to 10-10 on the year and a 7-2 record in the league.
Although they opened the first set with four straight points, the Dragons quickly evened the score, making it a tight set from that point forward. Trailing 24-22 late in the set, the Oilers fended off two set points from Tiffin, sparking a four-point run that ultimately secured the first set for Findlay, 26-24.
The Oilers continued the match with all of the momentum, winning the second and third sets with relative ease, winning by eight in the second and six in the third.
Findlay recorded a .346 hitting percentage in the match—their highest this month and best since hitting .364 against IUP—including a match-high .406 in the second set. Tiffin finished with a .311 hitting percentage.
Freshman Grace Auer had a match-high twelve kills while hitting .345. Junior Alana Pohlman had eleven kills while hitting a team-high .450.Â
Junior Kenzie Hoelscher also had a good day, posting eight kills and picking up a team-high three blocks while sophomore Hannah Miller, also finished with eight kills.
Helping run the offense was junior Emma White who had 35 assists and four aces while senior
Ava Doster tallied a team-high ten digs.
The Oilers will remain at home next week as they welcome the Malone Pioneers to Croy Gymnasium on Nov. 1 for a 7pm start.
